From the window of the plane I could see the vast dry desert landscape of Nevada. The bright sun shone through the small window, but it wasn’t coming from above. That’s when I saw it, as if it had dropped from the sky the city of Las Vegas gleamed in the sunlight in the center of harsh desert country.

Tall buildings of colored reflective glass and steel reflected the brightness and heat of the oppressive sun. It was mid day when I landed in McCarran International Airport Wednesday July 30, 2014. For the rest of the country it was just Wednesday but for me and people like me it was the start of our annual pilgrimage.

The one time of year when we all come together to celebrate a vision of the future that we hope humanity will some day reach. Where we gather to feast like kings, drink like pirates and revel each night as if it were our last.

What is this grand gathering you may ask? Well my friend the gathering is the Annual STLV Star Trek Las Vegas Convention or Khan! Which is put on by Creation Entertainment. Who am I and the people like me? We are Trekkies or Trekkers depending on who you ask.

Under the banner of TrekRadio and STOked Radio we descended upon Las Vegas for four days from July 31st – August 4th 2014 at the Rio Hotel and Casino for what is sure to be an out of this world party.
